Teruel Station
Teruel station served the old Sierra Menera mining railway line that transported tons of iron ore from the Ojos Negros mine to the port of Sagunto between 1907 and 1972.
The station is located approximately 5 km from the centre of Teruel. The building, which is larger than the Santa Eulalia, Cella and Caudé stations, is a single-storey building with a stone plinth and window and door frames, and a gabled roof in Arabic tile with a wooden structure.
The site has a number of service buildings in varying states of conservation, such as the locomotive depot and a building similar to the station itself which had a workshop inside for repairing the engines, being of particular note.
The Teruel station complex was damaged during the battles of the Spanish Civil War, and had to be rebuilt after the war in order to resume the transport of iron ore.
