Old halt station of Cabrejas del pinar
In the past, this building was part of the railway infrastructure of the line connecting Calatayud with Cidad Dosante (Burgos). This line was part of a larger project to connect the ports of Santander and Sagunto. The ambitious project took was first undertaken the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but was abandoned and definitively closed down in January 1985.
In 1920, the provincial councils of Burgos, Santander, Soria and Zaragoza supported the construction of the central sections of the Santander-Mediterranean railway. It would be in 1930 before the section between Calatayud and Cidad-Dosante (Burgos) was completed. However, the connection to Santander was never completed, with the final 35 km remaining incomplete.
For years, the Cabrejas del Pinar halt station was an essential infrastructure for the economy of this area of Castilla y León, as it made it possible to distribute raw materials such as the timber produced in this area throughout the rest of the country. However, after the definitive closure of the railway in 1985, this old halt at Cabrejas del Pinar was abandoned to its fate. Today, it is but a vestige of what once was, lying in ruin as a reminder of the railway that once ran through the area.
