River Laprima
The Laprima is another small river that rises in the vicinity of the town of Hontoria del Pinar, in the heart of the province of Burgos. After a short distance of just over two and a half kilometres, its course joins that of the River Lobos on its left bank, in the surroundings of the Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park.
Along its route, the Laprima crosses a plateau landscape dominated by dry cereal crops alternating with large areas of reforested pine trees. Different species of aquatic vegetation grow in its waters, such as reeds, carex, rushes and bur-reeds. The flora in the surrounding area consists mainly of shrubby willow groves, as well as hawthorns, blackthorns and a few specimens of black poplar.
This vegetation that grows in the shelter of the Laprima River has an environmental importance that goes beyond its scenic value, constituting an essential environment for a good number of birds that have found in this enclave a perfect place to nest.
