River Cardeñadijo
The River Cardeñadijo is a tributary of the River Arlanzón on its left bank. Its source is located in the municipality of Carcedo de Burgos and flows through the villages of Modúbar de la Emparedada and Cardeñadijo, flowing into the River Arlazón in the city of Burgos.
It runs parallel to the Santander-Mediterranean railway Greenway and the corresponding nature trail, entering the city limits of Burgos under the A-1 motorway and the BU-11 ring road, from where it remains underground until it reaches its mouth.
Its tributaries include the following streams, all on its left bank, the Quintana, Fuente Nueva, Fuente Helada and the Rompizales.
It should be noted that this river is flanked for two kilometres by a grove of white willows, one of the oldest and most valuable in the capital, which is why it is included in the catalogue of trees protected by the urban development plan.
