The river Ubierna
The Ubierna a tributary of the Arlanzón which itself flows into the Duero. It rises in the Páramo de Masa and runs for 50 km entirely through the province of Burgos. The Ubierna rises and flows through a highly porous limestone area. It flows into the river near the town of Villalonquéjar, in the municipality of Burgos. It takes its name from the village of Ubierna, the main municipality through which its course flows. This river has a low flow in summer, but it increases considerably during the winter, sometimes even overflowing its banks.
