Tejeda de Tosande Route
About 6 km from Cervera de Pisuerga lies the Tejeda de Tosande, a beautiful beech forest with one of the largest concentrations of specimens in Spain. Almost 800 yew trees have been counted here, including some thousand-year-old specimens that can reach a diameter of one and a half meters and heights of up to 15 meters.
There is a route that visitors can take to explore this magical place within the Natural Park Fuentes Carrionas and Fuente Cobre-Montaña Palentina. It begins on the C-626 road in a parking lot from where to enjoy this yew forest in the valley of Tosande in the Sierra de la Peña.
It is advisable to wear suitable and comfortable clothing and shoes for this walk, particularly during the winter months, as snowshoes may be necessary.
