Alar-San Quirce Station
Inaugurated on April 27, 1857, this railway station was the first stop of the old Isabel II railroad (Alar del Rey - Santander railroad).
It was used to transport the materials from the Canal of Castile and facilitate trade between the Castilian plateau and the Cantabrian coast. Later, it would become a station on the Madrid–Santander line and currently provides medium distance services between Valladolid and Santander.
It has a unique, large building for passengers, whose central portion is elevated.
Its simple design features linteled openings and an attached canopy. The station also has two platforms, one on the side and the other in the centre, with a total of four tracks.
Some of the buildings are still standing like the outbuildings, loading docks, and some scales that undoubtedly bear witness to an era when the town was a strategic point for transporting goods between Palencia and Cantabria.
