Toro Dam
The Toro Dam is a significant hydraulic infrastructure located in the province of Zamora.
The site is strategically located to the south of the city of Toro and is near it. It plays a pivotal role in the management of water from the Duero river and in the generation of energy. The dam is of the gravity type and was constructed mainly of concrete.
The reservoir created by the dam has a significant capacity to store water, which is essential for regulating the flow of the river. This is important for preventing flooding downstream and ensuring a constant supply for various uses, including irrigation and power generation. This infrastructure forms part of a hydroelectric system and contributes to the production of electricity by using the controlled flow of the river Duero.
In addition to its utilitarian functions, the reservoir provides an array of recreational and tourist activities. The dam and its surrounding area offer an attractive destination for those engaged in bird watching, fishing and other outdoor activities.
