Hydrography
Bayubas River
The Bayubas River originates 2 km north of Valverde de los Ajos, a minor local entity belonging to the municipality of Bayubas de Arriba.
The river is relatively short, measuring only 13 km in length before it joins the Duero River in the town of Aguilera. The river previously flowed through the municipalities of Bayubas de Arriba and Bayubas de Abajo, which it is named after.
The area through which it passes is characterised by a mosaic landscape comprising farmland, poplar groves and woodland, with a mixture of junipers, pines and prickly rockroses. The area is inhabited by a variety of animals, including wild boar, roe deer, foxes and various birds.
The area is also of great mycological value. Mushroom pickers will find the area an ideal place to look for chanterelles (Lactarius deliciosus) and llanegas(Hygrophorus agathosmus).
