Chapel of San Mateo
The beautiful chapel of San Mateo can be found in the Soria town of Vinuesa. The property is situated in a secluded location, surrounded by a grove of centenary pine trees, in the Vallilengua mountain, also known as San Mateo. This area is renowned for its unique beauty.
The building is a small, simple and modest structure with a rectangular floor plan and a hipped roof. the chapel is usually closed. A sign is displayed on the façade, stating: “This chapel is almost always locked. Only those with a genuine interest in exploring the site will be able to find the key that opens the doors.”
From the meadow on which the building stands, visitors can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Vinuesa. In the area behind the church, there is a forest track that leads up to the Salobral Fountain, which is housed in a conditioned refuge. The waters of the fountain are said to have properties for skin care.
