Santo Cristo chapel
One of the architectural gems of the municipality of Salduero is the Santo Cristo chapel.
This modest temple is situated on the route linking the villages of Salduero and Molinos de Duero. The latter is situated on the opposite bank of the river.
The construction of this building involved the use of ashlar stones, which highlight the meticulous workmanship that went into its creation. On the outside, there are two identical doors used as access to the chapel. The structure comprises voussoirs and a roof supported by three stone columns.
The most striking feature from the exterior is the sword, which comprises two orbs and is constructed from stone.
The interior of the building offers visitors a variety of images to enjoy. This is the case of the images of Christ crucified, Christ on the column and Christ with the Cross on his shoulders. It also houses a sculpture of the Virgin Mary with her son, known as the Dolorosa.
It is worth noting that all these images are carried by the villagers to the church of Salduero during the Palm Sunday procession at Easter. Subsequently, on Good Friday, they are returned to their point of origin.
