This itinerary uses the old railway line that connected Granada with Águilas (Murcia), known as the Almanzora railway. After the closure of this line in 1985, its initial and final sections (Granada - Guadix and Almendricos - Águilas) continued to be used. The intermediate section that fell into disuse in this railway line with a mining vocation, between Guadix and Almendricos, is the focus of this Nature Trail.
