Villaescusa Nature Trail
Description
Through meadows between wildlife and the sea
The Pas Greenway Natural Trail strats at the town of Astillero next to the old Orconera mineral loading dock, from where you can enjoy a beautiful views of the Astillero estuary towards Santander. de un bello panorama de la ría de Astillero hacia Santander.

After crossing the Orconera park and continuing along Nemesio Mercapide street, the trail leaves the town of Astillero behind, crossing the Solía estuary over an iron bridge to enter the municipality of Villaescusa.
The trail continues passing under the S-30 highway and one of the access lanes from the CA-142 raod to the S-30 highway (Ronda de la Bahía de Santander), and then crosses the CA-142 road at the entrance to Liaño.
Next, it crosses the S-432 regional road and a small rest area and continues through corn fields and pasture areas until it crosses La Concha road.

The route continues through an area of meadows, surrounded by maples (Acer sp.), laurels (Laurus nobilis), oaks (Quercus sp.), chestnuts (Castanea sativa) and holm oaks (Quercus ilex), until it reaches the old La Concha train station, now recovered to house some municipal offices.
After passing by several houses belonging to the town of Villanueva de Villaescusa, it enters a small forest of oaks, maples, ashes (Fraxinus sp.), chestnut trees and strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo) which, once crossed, approaches the end of the stage, one of the two entrances to the Cabárceno Nature Park, located in the town of Obregon.

Cabárceno Wildlife Park
Cabárceno Wildlife Park is neither a conventional zoo nor a nature park. It is a 750-hectare, man-made, naturalised space located on a former opencast mine, nestled in a karst landscape.
This space is home to one hundred animal species from the five continents that live in semi-liberty. One or more animal species coexist in large enclosures.
