Varón Stream (Arroyo do Varón)

This waterway owes its name to the location of its source, situated next to the locality of O Barón, in the municipality of O Carballiño. Along its 10 kilometres course, it meanders through distinct landscapes, crossing or bordering at least 15 settlements in various parishes.

Its tributaries maintain a constant flow until it joins the River Avia, one of the main tributaries of the River Miño. The riparian vegetation varies according to the use of the land bordering the river, but for most of its journey, the riverbed remains shaded by a lush arboreal canopy, which contributes to the ecological richness of the area.
