Information
Portillo Visitors' Centre
El Portillo Visitors' Centre is located in Los Realejos, at the northern entrance to El Teide National Park.
The centre provides information on the geological history of the Park, the formation of the landscape, the adaptations of the flora and fauna to the environment and the climatic characteristics of the area through interactive elements, photographic panels and backlit displays. It also has a recreation of the inside of a lava tube, a video library, a bookshop and an auditorium with an audiovisual projector.
Next to the Visitors' Centre there is a Botanical Garden with a 1,075-metre route in which the indigenous flora is exhibited, researched and reproduced. Interestingly, more than 75% of the species found in El Teide National Park can be found in its facilities, and you can also visit the laboratories where an important programme for the recovery of species in danger of extinction is being carried out.
It is open to the public every day (except 1st and 6th January and 25th December) from 9:00 am to 4:15 pm.
