Sant Steve Bay
Less than 3 kilometres from the municipality of Es Castell is the tranquil San Esteve bay. It is a deep-water bay, perfect for small boats, which was formed from a 650-metre-long arm of the sea.
Surrounded by a small settlement of summer residents and fishermen, it is not very busy, except for the locals, so it is a very quiet and practically virgin bay and has no services of any kind.
Its main advantage is undoubtedly that you can visit Sant Felip Castle, which is just 1.5 kilometres away, a 16th century Spanish fortress used to defend Mahón harbour, as well as the well-known Fort Marlborough, just 450 metres away. This infrastructure was built under British rule between 1710 and 1726 and became one of the most important sites used during the battle between Spain, Britain and France, who were fighting to establish themselves in Menorca.
Named after one of the most prominent generals of the time, Sir John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, a visit to this site will take visitors back to the essence of the 18th century.
