Old Santa Barbara level crossing box
This is a railway building located at the intersection between the road and the old railway line. The purpose was to control the passage of vehicles and the railway itself in order to avoid accidents.
In the past, the Ojos Negros mining railway ran through here, built by the Compañía Minera de Sierra Menera to carry iron ore from the mines to the port of Sagunto for distribution.
Today, this one-storey building has been perfectly restored and is used as an information office on the Ojos Negros Greenway. There is a shop selling local produce, spare parts for bicycles and food and drink is available if booked in advance. There is also a rest area and educational and tourism activities are organised in the vicinity.
