Viver
Viver is a municipality and town in the comarca of Alto Palancia with a population of around 1,500.
Its history goes back a long time, like other towns and villages in this region. The site of the Roman villa of El Pardo is a standout attraction here, and especially the thermal baths building. In terms of more recent history, the Battle of Levante Interpretation Centre (CIBAL) on the Spanish Civil War stands out.
Viver also has a wealth of architectural monuments in its town centre. The religious heritage of Viver includes buildings like the Church of La Virgen de Gracia, built on the site of a 14th century mosque; the Shrine of Santa Bárbara; and the Church and Convent of San Francisco de Paula. In terms of civil architecture, the most outstanding features are the Plaza Mayor square, inaugurated in 1945, Huertos Gate, built in 1606 with masonry and ashlar walls; the old cubo-lagar, a winemaking deposit; the old Hospital of which only the façade remains; La Asunción Fountain and the old Town Hall, built in 1786.
In terms of natural heritage, the most important area is La Floresta, a natural urban park of 40,000 m2.
As for the town's festivities, in addition to the patron saint festivals in honour of San Francisco de Paula, and other religious festivals like Easter Week, there is also an Extra Virgin Olive Oil Festival, which is generally held during the month of June.
