Shrine of La Virgen de la Sierrecita
The Shrine of La Virgen de la Sierrecita belongs to the hamlet of Carazuelo, which together with Duáñez, Fuentetecha and Mazalvete, is part of the municipality of Candilichera.
This small temple is located about three kilometres from the hamlet itself, at the top of a small mountain that gives it its name.
It is a very small temple, built in stone masonry with a two-storey roof. Its ground plan is square and quite simple, and the locals say that the Virgin offered her protection to a missing child who disappeared nearby.
Inside, there is an altar with a wooden altarpiece housing La Virgen de la Sierrecita, a small polychrome image in which the Virgin, with her light blue cloth, holds the child in her arms while both gaze skywards.
The ceiling is striking, with various decorative drawings. Among them is a four-pointed star and a golden chalice, surrounded by brambles.
