Mount Valonsadero
Mount Valonsadero is located in the shelter of the Frentes peak, eight kilometres outside the city of Soria. The almost 2,800 hectares that make up Mount Valonsadero have been declared a Natural Recreation Area since 2005, and in them it is possible to find different ecosystems ranging from high mountain areas to meadows and plains.
Among the vegetation that makes up this unique enclave, the dehesa land dotted with centenary Pyrenean oaks stand out. But in addition to its nature, this place stands out for the geological richness of its sandstone rocks, as well as from the archaeological perspective, since it is surroundings it is possible to find different cave paintings dating from 3,000 and 2,000 BC.
Every year, locals and visitors from the capital of Soria converge on meadows of Mount Valonsadero to celebrate the festival of San Juan in late June. For over two decades, the Cross International Soria has been one of the most important cross-country competitions in Spain. Held here every year, it attracts runners from around the world, competing in this natural setting.
The site also has a centre, which provides visitors with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the natural environment surrounding the city of Soria. Additionally, a cycle lane has been constructed, allowing those who prefer to explore this environment by pedalling to do so in a comfort.
