Toledillo station
This old railway construction was part of the Calatayud-Cidad Dosante line. This connection was conceived as part of a wider, more ambitious project to link the ports of Santander and Sagunto. Work on the line began in the late 19th/early 20th century.
In 1920, the provincial councils of Burgos, Santander, Soria and Zaragoza supported the construction of the central sections of the Santander-Mediterranean railway. Finally, in 1930, the section between Calatayud and Cidad-Dosante (Burgos) was completed. Ultimately, however, the connection with Santander never saw the light of day, due to the political instability of the time, poor profitability and the complicated orography of the terrain through which the railway had to be built and poor profitability. The line would be completely closed in 1985.
However, the old Toledillo halt station has been given a new lease of life. Thanks to the Greenway, refurbishment works have been carried out along the route, including the refurbishment of this building which was in a ruinous state. The modifications include the construction of a new roof, the extension of a concrete slab and the lowering of part of the platform to make a ramp from the path of the nature trail.
