Shrine of Señora de la Asunción
This hermitage is located just one kilometre south of the municipality of Villaverde del Monte in Soria. The original part of the church was built during the Romanesque period; however, between the 17th and 18th centuries, the sacristy, portico and other outbuildings were added.
The Shrine of Nuestra Señora de La Asunción is located at the foot of the Sierra de Cabrejas mountains, which means that the church enjoys a beautiful, leafy natural setting surrounded by centuries-old oak groves and wide meadows through which several paths run.
Every 15 August, the inhabitants of the small village of Villaverde del Monte gather around the shrine to celebrate a pilgrimage in honour of the virgin to whom this temple is dedicated.
