Parador de Limpias
A Cantabrian paradise by the estuary
Limpias is on the right bank of the eponymous estuary, next to the waters of the river Asón. And King Alfonso XIII made this peaceful setting his summer residence, in the Eguilior Palace, which is now the Parador de Limpias.
The building invites you to rest and stroll through its well-maintained and extensive gardens. It offers warm, comfortable rooms, the excellent cuisine of the Parador Network, lawn tennis and paddle tennis courts, a seasonal swimming pool and bright, spacious rooms, which are ideal for family and business events.
Limpias town centre, with its stately houses and houses Spanish people who’d made their fortune in Latin America, is a beautiful area that you’ll love to walk around. The most notable places are the San Vicente de Paúl school, the hermitage of Santa Isabel and the church of San Pedro, where the Christ of the Agony, to which the town of Limpias owes its fame, is kept. Around the town, the cultural highlights include the prehistoric Covalanas and Mirón caves.
Limpias is an ideal starting point for visiting towns such as Laredo, which contains La Salvé , one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the region with its immense five-kilometre sandy beach; or Santoña, which holds the title of the birthplace of anchovies in olive oil and also has the nearby Berria beach, which enjoys easy access.
