Peña Ubiña
Peña Ubiña is the highest peak in the area at 2,411 metres above sea level and lends its name to the Las Ubiñas-La Mesa Natural Park, declared in 2006, with a surface area of 45,162.5 hectares distributed across the Councils of Teverga, Lena and Quirós. The Natural Park’s territory is a mountainous area characterised by altitudinal variations and stark climatic contrasts between the valleys and the summits, which endows it with great botanical diversity. It also hosts stable populations of two endangered species: the brown bear (Ursus arctos) and the capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus).
