El Cribu coal loader
A coal loading facility in use until 1965, when mining in the council ceased. Constructed of solid brick and masonry, it comprises three longitudinal arches and one transverse arch, reinforced internally with wooden beams and topped with a coping.
Following its completion in 1884, the loading dock became a hub of activity, supplying fuel to the Quintana rolling mill using coal extracted from the council's mines, transported via the narrow-gauge railway that entered service that same year. Adjacent to this loading dock stood two batteries of coke ovens (Coppée system) with twelve ovens each, a steam discharging machine and coal washeries.
The El Cribu coal loading dock stands as a testament to the mining history of this council, formerly the main livelihood of the local population.
