Shrine of San Cibrán de Dimo
Immersed in a typical Galician carballeira, a leafy oak grove with centuries of history, lies the Shrine of San Cibrán de Dimo. This small sanctuary is strategically situated atop one of the lower peaks of Monte Xiabre, very close to the source of the river bearing the same name, the course of which is followed along this trail.
The shrine, in a style characteristic of rural Galician architecture, pays homage to San Cibrán (Saint Cyprian), one of the oldest and most venerated figures in Galician Christianity. Although an inscription on one of its arches indicates the year 1671, its current structure is the result of multiple renovations and additions, making it difficult to determine the exact era of its initial construction.
Beside the chapel stands a cruceiro (stone cross), which displays on each of its faces a moving image of the Pietà and a crucified Christ, elements typical of Galician religious art.
The surroundings of the shrine are not only a place for spiritual retreat but also a meeting point for celebration. The meadow surrounding it transforms into a lively festive space on Pentecost Sunday, when the saint is honoured with a traditional pilgrimage full of tradition, music and joy.
